A picturesque pop-up restaurant promoting women’s empowerment and mouth-watering Middle Eastern cuisine has opened at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, writes Mai Al-Khatib-Camille.

Ammuri, derived from an Arabic lady’s name meaning ‘radiant’, is the sixth offering in a series of pop-up concepts located on the beach resort’s famous alfresco venue, Nikmati, led by the hotel’s Oriental Chef de Cuisine Hanan Osman.

Since its official launch on October 13, Chef Hanan has been treating diners to a medley of Middle Eastern dishes for an authentic Bedouin-style feast and feel, with Commis Chef in Pastry, Sabrine Chouiba, as part of her team.

“As we go about our new normal during the global crisis, we take this opportunity to celebrate women in the hospitality industry and this new concept is an ode to their talent and passion,” said Bernard de Villèle, the five-star-hotel’s general manager.

“With a predominantly-female team led by our own brilliant Egyptian Chef Hanan, this new concept will break boundaries and showcase a multitude of artistic plates in a beautiful outdoor setting within the resort’s famous pop-up venue by the beach.

“Our goal is simple – to enliven the senses of our guests through extraordinary culinary experiences.”

The restaurant, adorned with pendant lights and beautiful fabric patterns, will feature an array of Egyptian, Moroccan and locally-inspired dishes including the signature Tagine, Machboos and Couscous. The pop-up is open until December 1, from 6pm to 11pm Tuesdays to Saturdays.
