The American Mission Hospital (AMH) has unveiled a ‘Workplace Wellness Campaign’ across the kingdom to promote a culture of preventive healthcare, writes Mai Al-Khatib-Camille.
The corporate launch, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s adviser for youth and sports affairs Saleh Al Mannai, at the InterContinental Regency Bahrain, featured a series of talks on the importance of keeping workers fit and healthy through wellness assessments.
“Launched in association with Soza Health UK, AMH will deliver these wellness assessments which will help promote preventative health,” said AMH group chief executive Julia Tovey.
The assessments, which are the result of extensive research by Soza Health in association with the UK’s acclaimed Loughborough University, will help individuals be aware of their health issues before becoming serious and will help them find ways to correct it.
AMH and Dhu3, Bahrain are offering the 45-minute medical tests for staff members to companies in Bahrain and the 32-page digital health and wellness report is private and confidential to the individual. It will feature readings and scores on glucose management, hydration, cardiovascular system, inflammation and immune system, nutritional management, stress management, respiratory system, kidney, bladder and liver function and the digestive system.
Presentations regarding the process, how the assessments will help and the role of insurance companies were highlighted at the event along with an offer to join AMH’s Workplace Wellness Fraternity.
Soza’s chief executive Tim King conducted a Zoom presentation from London, while bank and insurance company directors and heads of human resources shared their thoughts to guests.
“If we can seriously maintain other assets like buildings, equipment and vehicles, shouldn’t we also ensure that our greatest asset gets appropriate opportunities to take care of their own health?” said Tim.
Partnership appreciation awards were handed out to GIG Takaful’s Reema Nowrooz, Protection Insurance Services executive director – managing partner Samy Aziz and Al Salam Bank’s head of human resources and administration Muna Al Balooshi.
Meanwhile, British Ambassador Roderick Drummond, who was a special guest at the event and had undergone a self-assessment already, believes that workplace wellness is ‘essential’ for any enlightened employer.
