Miniature pink helmets are racing their way onto people’s desks and shelves in a bid to raise awareness about breast cancer as well as funds for the Think Pink: Bahrain Breast Cancer Society.

The limited edition helmets were designed and created by Racing Force Group to support the home grown non-profit organisation that has raised funds over the years for community projects. It includes purchasing and installing a 1.5T digital MRI, worth BD499,900, at Salmaniya Medical Complex’s Radiography Department and funding the education of nurses, physios, doctors and big local research projects.

“I wanted to help the foundation raise more funds for a great cause,” said Aref Yazbek, managing director of Racing Force Bahrain manufacturing head quarter and the group chief business officer.

Racing Force is one of the leaders in motorsport safety that has provided a complete range of protection and performance products used worldwide by top professionals, amateur athletes, racing teams and car manufacturers from Formula 1 to World Rally Championship, Sportscar racing, Stockcar, Rally-raid and Karting.

In the past 10 years, the company has won more than 60 FIA World Championship titles along with IndyCar, NASCAR and Supercars Championships.

Yazbek had come up with the idea to keep the awareness momentum going all year long and not just in October.

“The mini helmets, in scale 1:2, are a great memorabilia to have in your office or home. We sell 50,000 a year and it’s all manufactured in Bahrain. Everyone who buys our mini helmets always display it for life and we thought this product will be different than the others to generate more revenue for the foundation. This is how it started!”

There are only 80 pink pieces produced and it’s priced at BD120 (€300) per helmet with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to Think Pink Bahrain.

“In my opinion, we also need to start giving awareness to men, so they know (and are ready to know) how to support their mothers, sisters, wives or other member of the family when breast cancer occurs,” added Yazbek.

“Support is key and the men should start playing a more important role. Amongst couples or in a family, support is very important! This applies for other types of cancers as well.”
