Hundreds of bikers will be riding across the kingdom this Friday in rosy-hued attire to raise awareness about breast cancer in support of Think Pink Bahrain.

The engine-revving pink parade, featuring more than 600 bikers from across the region, will gather at the Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar, Muharraq at 6.30am and ride off to the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) at 8.30am.

“We will be riding our bikes on the track inside the BIC as well,” said Sri Lankan Roy Ribeira, the 46-year-old director of an IT company who is part of the Falcon Riders, one of Bahrain Bikers’ groups. Ribeira is also one of the organisers of the pink ride.

“Twenty-eight local groups and 16 groups from Saudi Arabia are taking part in the Think Pink Ride. We will have a contest for the best-dressed and best-decorated bike in pink as well. There will be many giveaways and all are invited!”

The annual pink motorbike ride will be the closing event for this year’s Think Pink campaign.

“We are thankful for the approval from the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry and Interior Ministry, as well as Diyar, for making this happen,” said Dr Julie Sprakel, Think Pink: Bahrain Breast Cancer Society founder, president and chairperson.

“It is so nice to see the annual ride grow each year with collaborative people which was the vision I had when I approved the idea back in 2008. This is an awesome awareness ride as it’s a talking piece and no funds are raised. The weather and closing event means more bikes from Bahrain can make their way from ARKS Diyar to BIC, so beep your horns on Friday for these awesome riders raising awareness for Think Pink: Bahrain Breast Cancer Society.”
