If you were a massive fan of Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise, then strap in for more out-of-this-world fun as the creepy crawlies are back and this time on Hulu.
Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez, known for directing Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, pitched the new martian movie to Ridley ages ago and years later the Alien-maker gave him the thumbs up.
According to online news site Deadline, Ridley’s company Scott Free and 20th Century made Fede’s Alien idea a ‘top priority’, though details about the plot or characters haven’t been announced…until now.
Actors Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu will be the next brave souls going head-to-head with a Xenomorph in Alien: Romulus, which is the working title for the film.
The story has also been described as “a group of young people on a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe”.
Fede has written the film and Alien overlord Ridley will be producing it. However, it won’t directly connect with either the original movies or Ridley’s prequel films, but it is set in the same universe.
The film begins production in Budapest tomorrow (March 9).
