TWO of Bahrain’s top funny men are representing the kingdom on the regional stage, after being selected amongst the Arab world’s top stand-up comedians in a TV series which has been running throughout Ramadan.

Ahmed Almatrook, 25, and Abdulla Nezar, 26, are part of the 60-comedian line-up of talent that has been showcased during the first season of Stand Up! Ya Arab!, which has been airing on Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) during the holy month.

“Being featured on Stand Up! Ya Arab! without a doubt, has been the most mind-blowing moment of my career so far,” Ahmed told GulfWeekly.

“The jump from performing locally in Bahrain to my comedy set being accessible to millions of people across the Arab world is nothing short of surreal.”

Ahmed and Abdulla performed approximately 12 to 15 minutes each of their best Arabic comedic content for the show, which features top talent from 12 Arab countries, including Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon and Egypt.

Abdulla’s set is in Episode 17 of the show, where he “teaches us some quirks in the Bahraini dialect and remembers his private school vs public school days,” according to the OSN series schedule.

Ahmed takes the stage in Episode 21, during which he “gives us a crash course in the Kuwaiti dialect and tells us about his family WhatsApp group.”

In each episode of the first-of-its-kind comedy series in the Arab World, two stand-up talents bring their own unique comedic styles to the audience.

“With viewer-centricity at the heart of OSN, we are dedicated to producing impactful original content that exceeds expectations and resonates with our regional audience,” OSN Originals acting head Fiona Robertson added.

“We created this OSN Original series so we could showcase emerging talent to comedy fans of all ages and demographics.”

The series aired on OSN Yahala and OSN Comedy, releasing a new episode every day during Ramadan, and is being made available for streaming on OSN+.
