The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Friday Brunch buffet is back, now stronger than ever, with a wide selection of favourites for the entire family.

What’s special about this brunch is that it is basically a hotel brunch, which means that a lot of the property’s restaurants are involved, and “we have a very beautiful selection of international cuisines – Asian, Mexican, Italian, international, rotisserie, pastries, cold cuts and homemade bread,” explained Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Executive Sous Chef Francesco Cavazzina.

Walking into the dining area, I was greeted with a wonderful display of the carvery station that had one of the biggest varieties of meat I have seen at a buffet – there was turkey, steak, lamb and chicken, all served with their own seasonings and sauces.

My personal favourites were the tender and flavourful steak which was perfect, served simply with salt and chimmichuri, as well as the turkey, which was delicious paired with a brown sauce.

Now you don’t usually see sashimi on a buffet, but the sushi station at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain offers three kinds – hamachi, salmon and tuna – all quality choices, of course, and I was perfectly happy with my selection of maki as well.

The Asian appetiser section featured chicken satay and assorted tempura, while the Mexican station had both chicken and beef burritos, as well as flour and corn tortillas with guacamole, refried beans, sour cream and picco de gallo.

I made my way to the fresh seafood station next, where I was presented with a choice of lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels as well as a selection of caviar, with accompanying dips and sauces – a seafood lover’s dream station!

For my main course, I went with the beef medallion and truffled mashed potatoes. The beef was cooked to perfection and the sauce that it was served in was delicious along with the luscious mash, a perfect accompaniment.

“We have started our brunch buffet once again every Friday with a new menu for our guests, after a hiatus during the pandemic,” Chef De Cuisine Hanan Osman told GulfWeekly.

“We have pastries, a chocolate fountain, a carving section, sushi station and Mexican station as well as Thai station, we also have a live pasta station with homemade pasta, and the Arabic section has shawarma and grills,” she added.

I only had so much room left and still had to try dessert, so I did not sample anything else from the main course, but the selection of mixed grills, Thai green curry and other firm favourites looked appetising indeed.

In addition to these, there was also an extended selection of cold cuts and a variety of breads as well as salads and dips to satiate even the pickiest of eaters; while the soup of the day was a mushroom and truffle soup – yum!

The dessert section was vibrant and colourful with a glorious chocolate fountain gracing the table. This section featured chocolate steamed pudding, a delightful carrot cake, a coffee and lemon mousse cake that stole the show for me, chocolate fudge cake and a live crepe station, in addition to traditional delights such as Umm Ali and baklava and much more.

The ‘brunch-licious’ experience at La Med costs BD35 per person, including soft beverages; BD45 with select beverages and BD17.5 per child along with soft beverages; available from 12.30pm to 4pm.
