Legendary actor Tom Hanks has just released his first-ever novel, which distills the process of modern Hollywood creativity from inception to publication and eventually, screen adaptation, into a 448-page story.
The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece by Tom Hanks was released yesterday (May 9) and starts off with a 1947 story, in which a troubled soldier, returning from the war, meets his talented five-year-old nephew, leaves an indelible impression, and then disappears for 23 years.
Decades later, the nephew is drawing comic books and decides to draw one about his war-hero uncle, which is then discovered by a director who decides to make a superhero movie out of it.
Matt Haig, the best-selling author The Midnight Library and Reasons to Stay Alive, has called the book “wild, ambitious and exceptionally enjoyable.”
