A NEW Disney animated musical called Wish is releasing today in the US to celebrate Walt Disney’s 100th anniversary of storytelling.
The heart-warming movie, directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, was premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on November 8, just in time to usher in the holiday spirit.
Taking place in the kingdom of Rosas, a Mediterranean island ruled by King Magnifico, the film follows a young girl named Asha who turns to old traditions following her sense of an impending darkness in her home. Asha then makes a powerful wish upon a star, and to her surprise, receives a more direct answer than she initially thought – as the star arrives ... ready to help her.
“It’s emotional to get to see the story be embraced, and it’s about to come out,” said Fawn.
“This movie is about when you have a wish, you shouldn’t keep it a secret. You should share it with the world. A wish is a universal thing – not just for children – but for adults too.”
Buck added that movies like these take four to five years, and is excited to finally see the magic of the film come to light.
“We are extremely excited for the audiences to see Wish when it hits theatres today,” he said.
