THE South-Korean singer and rapper Jennie, known for her role in the band Blackpink, has started her journey of creativity with the launch of her own label.

On Sunday, Jennie posted to her 82 million plus Instagram followers an account named OA, announcing it as her very own company made specifically to start her solo journey.

OA stands for Odd Atelier, where Jennie aims to create things that capture attention in a special, yet unexpected way.

“Hi, this is Jennie. This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come as I start my solo journey in 2024,” the post read.

Rumours were swirling that she was due to leave South Korea’s most successful girl group, however, it has been confirmed that she and three other members of the group renewed their contacts with YG Entertainment. This means she is taking her solo journey, alongside with her commitments to Blackpink.

Formed in 2016, Blackpink has become one of the world’s biggest K-pop girl groups, and consists of members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa.

The group debuted in August 2016 with its single album Square One, which featured songs such as Whistle and Boombayah – which were its first number-one entries on South Korea’s digital charts.

Blackpink set a Guinness record earlier this year for having the most-viewed music channel on YouTube, which now boasts more than 90 million subscribers.

Last month, Blackpink received honours from UK’s King Charles III for its work in raising awareness about climate change.

The group embarked on a worldwide Born Pink world tour in October last year which came to a close in September, performing more than 60 shows around the world.
