SCOTTISH singer Lewis Capaldi has released five new songs as part of an extended version of his second album, Broken by Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.

The award-winning artist took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce the exciting news.

“Prior to my decision to take a break for a bit, I’d always hoped to release an extended version at some point,” he said.

He added that the songs mean the world to him and he would be devastated if he didn’t share them with his loyal fans.

“Hope this tides you all over until we can get in a room and sing them together some day. Happy New Year!”

The star had taken a break in June due to his overwhelming health battles with Tourette’s Syndrome and anxiety. Lewis made sure to keep fans updated, even teasing them with the possibility of a ‘special treat’ in the New Year.

Best known for his hit Someone You Loved, Lewis has accumulated various accolades over the years such as the Brit Award for Song of the Year and Brit Award for Best New Artist. He was also nominated for the Critics’ Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards.

Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent – which had accumulated 95,000 chart units during its first week on sale – had held the title for biggest opening of the year until Taylor Swift released her re-recording of her 2014 album, 1989.

Lewis had explored how the pressures of fame affected him mentally and physically earlier this year in the Netflix documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now. It won a National Television Award in the authored documentary category and has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Music Film.
