THE first poster for the upcoming film Challengers has been released and fans are ecstatic.
According to the official film synopsis, Challengers follows “three players who knew each other when they were teenagers as they compete in a tennis tournament to be the world-famous grand slam winner and reignite old rivalries on and off the court”.
Set to premiere on April 26, the much-anticipated tennis romance movie follows the character Tashi Duncan, played by Zendaya, a former tennis icon who became a coach after a career-altering injury.
The movie takes a shift when Tashi signs up her husband for a tennis match to revive his career after suffering from continuous losses.
The couple comes to learn that they will be competing against Tashi’s ex-boyfriend – which creates a competitive drive in her husband.
The film’s director Luca Guadagnino boasted about Zendaya’s acting skills in the upcoming film during an interview with Variety at the 2022 Academy Museum Gala.
“I mean wow! We edited the movie and we almost actually don’t use any of her double. She’s so good,” Luca said.
In addition to Zendaya, the movie includes actors such as American Grammy-winning actor Mike Faist and British actor Josh O’Connor who is known for his role in Doctor Who.
The former Disney star icon, Zendaya, is known for her role in dramas such as the popular American series Euphoria and the musical The Greatest Showman.
The film’s trailer was released in June last year.
