AMERICAN rapper Donald Glover’s final musical chapter under the stage name Childish Gambino is set to release tomorrow.
The soundtrack album Bando Stone & the New World has been scored by the multi-talented personality for his directorial feature debut of the same name. The movie stars Donald who plays a famous musician navigating a world empty of people. He meets a woman and her child, and together they journey through a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
The artist co-produced the film alongside Swedish giants, producer Max Martin and composer Ludwig Göransson, who previously worked on Donald’s 2013 album Because the Internet, as well as American producer Michael Uzowuru.
Ahead of the album’s release, the rapper sold out an amphitheatre in New York where he hosted a listening party for his fans who were said to enjoy the 15 tracks ranging stylistically from soulful and electronic to funk and hip-hop tunes.
It is unclear if the 40-year-old creative retiring the Childish Gambino persona signifies him fully leaving the music industry, however, fans are hoping he will release music under his real name.
Born on September 25, 1983, Donald McKinley Glover Jr. is also a writer and comedian. He created, occasionally directed, and starred in the FX series Atlanta, which earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards in 2017.
