Richard Thomas Osman’s new book We Solve Murders comes out on September 17.

The new series follows detective duo Steve and Amy Wheeler.

Steve is a retired man who is invested in his normal life routines. His daughter-in-law Amy is a private security officer whose job is keeping famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive on a remote island.

However, a killer with their sights on Amy brings Steve back from retirement, as the two find themselves on a mission together.

The new crime mystery marks the start of a new series for the writer, after he became known for his bestselling Thursday Murder Club novels.

At this year’s Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate, the 53 year-old author revealed that the departure from the four-novel series felt like a betrayal to the much beloved universe.

“I felt like I was cheating on my other characters, it felt like I was having an affair,” he told the festival.

“I made peace with myself in thinking the Thursday Murder Club characters are still there (in We Solve Murders),” he added.

Richard is also a comedian and television presenter. He is the creator and former co-presenter of BBC One’s television quiz show Pointless.
