PSYCHOLOGICAL horror film Smile 2 is out now in theatres.
Serving as a sequel to the 2022 film, the movie follows pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) who experiences a series of disturbing events as she is about to embark on a tour, forcing her to face her dark past to regain control of her life.
In an interview, writer and director Parker Finn revealed that he intentionally left parts of the first film ambiguous to allow an opportunity to explore more details of the Smile universe in a sequel.
“There certainly are stones that I left unturned by design,” Parker said.
“And then there are other things that I, at one point or another, wanted to put in the movie, but they didn’t end up in the movie for whatever reason. So those things are still exciting to me.
“I would never want to just repeat myself or retread the same ground. I’d want to make sure that there’s a new, exciting, fresh way into it that the audience isn’t anticipating. I also want to find some new ways to scare them and unnerve them,” he added.
As part of the film’s promotions, a soundtrack entitled The Skye Riley EP (extended play), performed by Naomi, was released on October 11.
