DHL flew in more than 250 employees from 10 countries to take part in an internal football championship, hosted by DHL Bahrain.
The event is an annual initiative that is intended to build inter-country team spirit to facilitate DHL’s vision of operating as one country in the Middle East. Teams from Iraq, Afghanistan, Oman, UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain competed at Bahrain Rugby club last Friday. Bachi Spiga, head of operations for DHL Middle East, pictured left, said: “Holding team-building events such as this is vital in ensuring that our teams work as a ‘well-oiled machine’ across all borders.” DHL, a global market leader of the international express and logistics industry, donated BD100 for every goal scored during the championship. A total of BD 11,800 was presented to RIA, the first non-profit special needs school in Bahrain, and will be put towards the cost of a new school bus.
