Womanspeak is a female-to-male dictionary, aimed at enlightening the male population on what a woman means when she says…

‘Silence (after an irritation)’
Silence – though by its very nature, not a word – speaks volumes. It’s one of the most dangerous situations you can find yourself in with a woman. Although she isn’t saying a word you can bet your bottom dollar she is thinking plenty and when you least expect it they will all come flowing out in a torrent of loathing and hatred. ‘Silence’ means “I haven’t decided how I feel about this yet but I’m so angry I can’t trust myself not to say something I’m going to regret right now… but I will!” The dangerous part of a woman going silent is that she’s actually giving herself time to gather her thoughts and every man worth his salt knows that a woman that thinks before she talks can only mean trouble.
