Gulf Weekly Mövenpick has the coolest pool in town

ONE of Bahrain’s top hotels aims to ensure guests really chill out this summer when they splash about in the pool.

The Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain, near the international airport, boasts a 576-sq m feature swimming pool – the largest and only one of its kind on the island of Muharraq.
And to ensure visitors can fully enjoy the attraction, special plans have been put in place to cool the water down when temperatures begin to soar.
Shama Uchil, communication and brand manager, revealed: “Especially for this summer the hotel has a surprise in store for all its guests.
“The swimming pool at the hotel will be cooled so if you are looking for a really cool dip to relieve you from the summer heat, this is one swimming pool that is sure to bring the temperatures down!”
The ‘cool’ swimming pool overlooks a sprawling lagoon.
The hotel will be able to keep a check on its temperature and cool it by ingeniously using water from the existing hotel air-conditioning system (chilled water system) and allowing it to pass over the pool’s heat exchanger tubes.
The temperature will remain between a refreshing and comfortable 25 and 29 degrees.
Shama added: “We have a growing number of GCC families booking our hotel this summer for a relaxing break.
“One of the most attractive highlights for our leisure tourists is the swimming pool. Families spend hours by it enjoying the water as well as the famous Mövenpick gastronomy comprising snacks and cocktails.
“With summer temperatures touching very high levels, we thought cooling the pool would be the ideal gift for all our patrons and regular guests.
“This would not only be an added complimentary facility, it should also allow people to stay longer in the pool and truly enjoy the soothing water during the hot summer.”
Being within 10 minutes driving distance of Manama, the hotel is a popular leisure retreat. It has 106 well-equipped and lavishly-furnished guest rooms including 10 suites and 16 non-smoking rooms.
