Gulf and NATO media experts are to converge on Manama for a forum entitled ‘Media in a changing world – perspective from the Gulf and NATO’.

It is being co-organised by the Ministry of Information and NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division on the perspectives of media on issues related to the Istanbul Co-operation Initiative, security, stability and civil co-operation.
Held under the patronage of the Minister of Information, Dr Mohammad Abdul Ghaffar, the two-day forum on June 5 and 6 at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Resort Hotel and Spa will be attended by top regional and international media experts and over 250 delegates.
The first session will address ‘NATO and Gulf Security in the New Strategic Environment’, while the second session will be on the Istanbul Co-operation Initiative and the Gulf countries.
Participants will on the second day discuss media coverage of international and political organisations.
The fourth session will tackle ‘the GCC and NATO: The Way Ahead.’
NATO’s Istanbul Co-operation Initiative, launched in the Turkish city in June 2004, aims to contribute to long-term global and regional security by offering countries of the broader Middle East region practical bilateral security co-operation with NATO.
It focuses on practical co-operation in areas where NATO can add value, notably in the security field.
