RIFFA Golf Club’s recently crowned club champion, Sultan Abdulla, led his team to first place in the club’s annual staff golf tournament with an excellent team score of 10 under par 62.

His team consisted of Abdulfattah Jaffar Mohsin from golf operations; Joy Jose, head of clubhouse maintenance and Rakib Hamdu from the golf course maintenance department.
PGA teaching professional Chris Kelby’s team came second in the Texas Scramble tournament with a 5 under 67 on count back. Both teams will be treated to an all expenses paid golf trip to Dubai.
A record 58 members of staff took part in this year’s tournament which saw each team being led by either a PGA golf professional, a national team player or a low handicap club member.
“All the staff had a thoroughly enjoyable day and played very well,” said general manager Michael Braidwood.
A barbecue and prize-giving ceremony were held in the club’s marquee the following evening for all staff and their families, with all the cooking done by the management of the Club.
A raffle was also held with the top prize of a home theatre system being won by Hassan Mansoor from the golf operations department.
