IN the land where coffee reigns supreme, a tea house is raising its head on Manama’s Exhibition Road.

Tea Club which is the first of its kind in Bahrain is a healthy option to innumerable coffee-serving cafes dotted all over the island and this is exactly the stance Tea Club owners Naima Mattar and Fayadh Al Fadhul will employ to make their enterprise a success.
“Tea Club will provide a venue for people to meet, to read or to work in a relaxed atmosphere with a fragrant pot of tea.
“Our core business is tea but we do have coffee on our menu.
“This is because coffee is deeply ingrained in our culture and social scene but when customers will experience the different varieties of aromatic teas available and the health benefits associated with drinking it, slowly but surely there will be a shift in their habit,” says Naima.
According to research, a cup of tea contains less than half the level of caffeine of a typical cup of coffee and there is more than twice the antioxidant power in a cup of tea than there is in one apple.
The Tea Club will have over 3,000 varieties of tea for the customers to choose from with an additional 300 kinds of green teas, flavoured teas, blooming teas, tea cocktails and teas to energise and de-stress, the list is endless.
And it is not just about tea but there are sandwiches, savories, cookies and dessert to serve as a delicious accompaniment.
Tea accessories from a 22-carat exclusive teapot to a factory-produced teapot along with different varieties of teas will be available for the customers to buy.
The enterprising mother and son duo have their sights set on higher ground as they plan to take their Tea Club all over the Middle East.
