The British Council held a social morning for the wives of Bahraini diplomats as part of their language course organised in liaison with Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry.
The course, which reflected the need for diplomats’ wives to be “ambassadors” for their country in their own rights, included topics of culture, religion, festivals, customs and traditions. A mini-reception was held to practise socialising skills with Council staff posing as foreign diplomats. The course also aimed to improve participants’ communication skills and revise grammar and vocabulary in order to help them represent the kingdom as effectively as possible. The teachers were Judith Ede, Nathan Lomax and Jenny Smith.
