Reef not? News that a part of Bahrain’s reef is to be sacrificed for property development has angered local environmentalists, it would seem. Despite the fact that it’s only a little reef, according to the developers, there are real concerns that the ecological balance around Bahrain’s coast and out into the Gulf is suffering irreparable damage. Environmental pressure groups are reported to be thinking about taking action ... they want to present a petition to the government, apparently. Would you sign it? Let me know...
Schools in! I’m hearing the beginnings of a rumour in the education world. Plans are being examined to extend the school year in private schools, I’ve been told. Apparently, the current state of play means that private schools are open for about half the year and the government want to extend their use by keeping them open longer. Talk of asking private schools to either offer summer schools or evening classes are on the cards.
