Around 20 members of Riffa Golf Club were conducted on chauffeur driven tours of the club’s new Colin Montgomerie-designed golf course construction site recently to view the progress being made.
Martin Champion, the project manager, was present to answer any questions about the layout of the championship course which will form the centrepiece of Riffa Views Signature Estates. Also present were the club’s general manager Michael Braidwood and director of golf operations, Phil Jones. “The construction process is still on schedule with six of the 18 holes well on the way to completion,” explained Champion. “The new turf nursery is doing well and we expect to make our first harvest in the coming weeks. That harvest will produce enough grass stolons to turf six or seven holes. “A further four holes will be completed by September and the entire course construction will be completed by next April.” “Although the remaining nine holes of the existing course will be closing at the end of August, we intend to ensure that all our members and regular guests are kept fully informed of the project’s progress during the coming months,” said Braidwood. “This was just the first of several such tours we have planned. Many of our members are very interested in seeing the technicalities involved in building a golf course and meeting with the contractors is a great way to learn more.”
