Dear Stan,
With reference to Marie-Claire’s Top 10 men list. Here’s mine:

Macho men   Lady boys
Clint Eastwood     Tom Cruise
Charles Bronson Keanu Reeves
Steve McQueen Sean Connery
Daniel Craig Roger Moore
Michael Moore Matt Damon
Bruce Lee  Jean-Claude Van Damme
Michael Chiklis  Nicolas Cage
Al Pacino Hugh Grant
Sean Penn Johnny Depp
Marlon Brando  Robert De Niro
Nawaf Albardooli,
Bahrain.

Editor’s note: I’m not sure I would like to come face to face with Sean Connery and call him a lady boy!

Dear Stan,
I wonder how Shilpa goes around fearlessly with her shopping list in the local supermarkets.
A reader had reported in GDN that he was shown the door by the security for going around the store and jotting down some prices.
S Venkateswaran,
Bahrain.

Editor’s note: Shilpa goes where others fear to tread!

Dear Stan,
I have seen Shilpa's Shopping List in GulfWeekly many times. How can a person calculate the cost of living by reading your list? Do you think a person can live on tomatoes, potatoes, and apples and such few things alone?
Actually no supermarket here is really cheap.
They will reduce 50 fils on one item and increase 100 fils on another. This I know very clearly because I have shopping experience in different markets at Manama.
So please provide the rate of regional food items for example, one week a north Indian food list , another week a south style, followed by a foreign style like Italian or English items and then compare them.
Jaya Krishnan,
Bahrain.

Editor's note: The aim of Shilpa's shopping list is to give a general comparison of a trolley load of regular items purchased by all our readers in popular
supermarkets.
Without question, you could probably buy the items cheaper from a roadside market-stall or a souq, although that is not always the case. On her first week in Bahrain my good lady wife was charged BD5 for two small pieces of hamour ... I think the fish market stall-holder recognised
an expat newcomer the  instant she walked by!

Dear Stan,
Rohaina Tanveer has enrolled in the Gulf Air Pre-World Scrabble Championship tournament taking place on September 7 at Yateem Centre.
In a ‘mind sport’ dominated by men, she is the first woman to join the international competition and the third competitor from Kuwait.
Yours truly,
Roy Kietzman,
Manama.
