American car-maker Lincoln is building on the success of its Zephyr mid-size sedan with the launch of the new Lincoln MKZ in Bahrain.

The MKZ is a five-passenger luxury sedan with a powerful 3.5L V-6 engine.

"The new MKZ is moving Lincoln to a modern vision of American luxury," said Almoayyed Motors general manager Venkatesh Goud.

"It enters the market from a position of strength, following the outstanding success of the Zephyr in North America.

"With the Lincoln MKZ, we're adding an attractive new entry level model to the Middle Eastern Lincoln lineup, offering great new features and delivering outstanding value that luxury customers demand," Mr Goud added.

The Ford all-new Duratec 35 V-6 engine paired with a premium 6-speed transmission delivers 263 net horsepower and 249 net pounds-foot of torque.

A strong, lightweight die-cast aluminum block and lightweight 4-valve direct-acting, mechanical-bucket valve train provides smooth, refined operation at high engine speeds. The intake was designed as a system all the way from the throttle body to the intake valves.

Lincoln MKZ's safety system includes standard driver and front passenger airbags, seat-deployed side airbags for thorax protection, and three-point safety belts at all seating positions, with front-seat pretensioners and retractors.

A full-length safety curtain provides head protection over the length of the window glass area - from A-pillar to C-pillar.
