Saab breaks the barrier

Saab's 30-year pedigree of pioneering turbo-charged innovation has culminated in the production of its most advanced turbo-charged diesel engine to date - the groundbreaking TTiD.

Refined twin-turbo technology has produced a compact 1.9 litre power unit which delivers a commanding 180HP and the performance characteristics of a much larger engine without its associated size and weight.

In effect, this means that the TTiD power unit delivers exceptional power just when drivers need it most: when overtaking.

With a reassuring 400Nm of torque to draw upon, the TTiD effortlessly accelerates from 40-60mph in 4th gear in a mere 5.0 seconds.

Yet this is only one half of the TTiD's remarkable character, because these figures disguise the fact that the TTiD averages a compelling 50.4mpg whilst producing such breathtaking performance.

A Saab spokesman said: "Where received wisdom said it couldn't be done, the TTiD has twinned true sporting performance with all the frugality and efficiency you would expect from a diesel."
