Wednesday (Feb 13)¥ Bake Sale event at the Chaoss in Budaiya from 2pm onwards. Donated cookies, cakes and savories will be on sale. Proceedings will go for the benefit of the 2008 Inter GCC Club Gymnastic championships. ¥ Last day to submit entries for the garden-themed photography competition to the Bahrain Garden Club in Juffair before 1pm. The competition, for amateur photographers, will be divided into two levels: 15-18 years and 19 and above. Entries will be judged on Saturday. Prizes including Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Cup for Photography will be awarded to the winners. Friday (Feb 15)

¥ Grammy award-winning guitar legend Carlos Santana will perform at the Dubai Festival City. The gig forms part of the star's Live Your Light Tour. Tickets are priced at BD102, BD42 and BD32 and are available online from www.santanadubai.ae.

¥ An Indian musical show 'The Soul of India' featuring musician Bappi Lahiri will take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre in Sanabis from 7pm onwards. ¥ The Jawad Business Group is organising a 'mini marathon' aimed at encouraging children to lead healthy lives. ¥ Romanian artist Simona Panciu is exhibiting 48 paintings, themed The Dove, at the Camelot Restaurant in Adliya. A resident of Bahrain for more than 10 years she has been influenced by her mother's paintings and her father's architectural designs. She will be exhibiting 11 of her paintings from The Dove collection in April in Limoges, France along with five fellow Romanian artists selected as part of a World Art and Culture Exchange between the two countries. ¥ An art exhibition titled 'Infinite Lines' by award-winning architect Moosa Silwadi will be on display at the Bahraini French Cultural Center, Maison Jamsheer in Muharraq from February 17. Monday (Feb 18)

¥ The Young Musicians of Gulf Competition 2008 begins at St Christopher's School. There are 95 participants, aged 18 and under, from 13 different schools. Tuesday (Feb 19)

¥ The Albareh Art Gallery in Adliya is showcasing the works of Syrian artist Abdullah Murad. His paintings highlight an abstract geometric-style punctuated with Arabesque detailing. Born in Homs, Syria, he has graduated from the faculty of Fine Arts Damascus in 1970. The exhibition will run until the February 28. For details contact 17717707.

DON'T forget to register for the American Women's Association (AWA) Cherry Tree Trot which will be held on February 29at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The races include 2K for disabled, 2K for children ages 6-12, 3K and 5K for adults ages 13 and over, 8K for adults ages 15-plus and a walkathon for all ages.

Costs to enter in the races are BD3 for children and BD5 for adults if registered by February 19. The walkathon is BD1 for everyone but free for those aged five and under. Pre-registration packets are available at Alosra, Al-Jazira in Zinj and Jawad, the Good Life Gallery, World Beat Fitness Centre, Harley Davidson, the Skate Shack, and Karting 4 Me. People can also register on the day of the race.

A fusion charitable concert - Bahrain Dosti Mela 2008 - will be held on March 14 at the Al Ahli Club in Zinj.

The concert will be a blend of rock, pop and bhangra featuring Ali Azmat, Strings and Punjabi MC (Rajendar Rai).

Pakistani rock icon Ali Azmat began his career as lead singer for the rock band, Junoon, and went solo in 2003. He was also nominated for an Emmy award in 2002 and appeared live at the Royal Albert Hall, London in 2003.

Pakistani pop sensation Strings started in 1989 when band members Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia got together. They topped the charts in Pakistan and India, have numerous songs in Indian movies, and performed on the soundtrack for Spiderman 2.

Punjabi MC aka Rajendar Rai began his music career in 1993 by writing lyrics and rapping at university events. He has released 10 albums via independent bhangra labels from the UK.

Tickets are priced at BD7 for regulars, BD13 for VIPs and BD20 for VVIPs.

Flower and Vegetable show planned for amateurs

The Bahrain Garden Club's (BGC) 43rd Annual Amateur Flower and Vegetable Show will be held from February 22-24 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIEC). It will include various competitions such as the best garden, open flower, vegetable and fruit, experimental gardening and flower and vegetable arrangements for different age groups. The show also features competitions for different categories which will be judged by 60 professional and experienced gardeners, horticulturalists and landscapers, who will be assisted by 20 stewards.
