THE_Culture Vultures are co-ordinating the first ever 'ArtHouse Open Studios' event in Bahrain in April.
Emerging and established artists will open their studio doors for set times over a 10 day period, and give the public the opportunity to witness first-hand work in progress and to gain a sense of the creative process.
Some of the artists are local, while some are from overseas, but all are currently living and working here in Bahrain.
They will exhibit their work in the familiar surroundings of their own workplace giving visitors the opportunity to see the 'tools of the trade', be that trade oil-painting, glass-fusing, photography or ceramics, and to get a strong sense of the personality of the artist from their own unique working environment.
Participating artist Sophie Berger Stephane has been involved in a similar event in Paris and Seana Mallen has taken part in Open Studios events in Washington DC, San Francisco and London
Seana said: "It's a bit like an 'art safari', where you can roam from place to place getting a real feel for the creative person and seeing the creative juices flow with your own eyes."
There are a total of 15 artists taking part in the event, from the very well-known such as Abbas Al Mousawai and Ali Al-Mahmeed to the exciting newcomers like Marialine Verdickt. who has only been painting for two years.
Intuitive and spontaneous artist Manuella Mavromichalis is taking part, as is photography-based artist Arthur D'Souza.
Collectively the artists are a force to be reckoned with, with an enormous amount of experience and numerous qualifications between them; their work covers a range of media including glass, paint, photography and sculpture.
There will be an ArtHouse Guidebook available to the public which will outline which artists are participating, where their studios are, and when members of the public can visit.
There will also be workshops for adults and children through the course of the two week period. Guise Maggi, for example, is providing the opportunity for budding artists to create their own glass work, while Christine Hawath will present an Introduction to the technique of oil painting with Still Life.
