McDonald's, the world's largest chain of fast-food restaurants, is aiming to make its mark in the world of cafe-culture.
Established outlets like Costa Coffee and Starbucks will be watching with interest to see if the first 'Mc Cafe generate hype at Bahrain International Airport and whether customers will be 'lovin' it' or not.
It has entered the cafe market in Bahrain offering a wide selection premium coffee, gourmet cakes, muffins and snacks.
Ali El-Hajj, McDonald's Bahrain general manager said: 'At McDonald's, our aim is to be a 'forever young' brand which adopts itself to the changing lifestyle of our customers and provides them with the best, most contemporary restaurant experience.
'To meet the needs of our customers, we have revamped our menu and embarked on an ambitious re-imaging programme that will see more than 13 outlets across the country showcase a more relevant and inviting atmosphere.'
The dining area of the restaurant has been separated into three sections with distinct personalities.
The 'lounger zone' with comfortable armchairs, sofas, is targeted towards young adults. The 'grab and go zone' features tall counters with bar stools for customers who eat alone with plasma TVs. The third section is the 'flexible zone' which has been designed for families and large groups.
The 'Mc Cafe', located within the restaurant, states it will use only the finest Arabica beans roasted in a 'time-honoured Italian fashion' to prepare its rich, full-flavoured coffee.
McDonald's Bahrain is Bahraini-owned and operated by Fakhro Restaurants Company. After opening the first restaurant in 1994, McDonald's Bahrain has currently 13 restaurants across the kingdom.
