Gulf Weekly Farewell!

Gulf Air, Bahrain's national airline, bid farewell to the last of its Boeing 767 aircraft after years of exemplary service in the airline's fleet.

In a function held recently, Gulf Air senior management, pilots and technical engineers gathered at the Bahrain International Airport to say goodbye to the last B767 coded GV after returning from its last commercial flight.

"Gulf Air has embarked on a major restructuring programme that includes modernising its fleet by replacing older aircraft with new ones gradually," says Gulf Air acting chief operating officer Captain Chris Cain.

"As part of this strategy in January this year we placed an order for up to 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and last week we signed a deal with Airbus to purchase 35 aircraft."

The Boeing 767 fleet, which at one time numbered 20 aircraft, served the Gulf Air network safely for almost 20 years clocking-up more than one million flight-hours amongst them.
