Culture of food safety on the menu

Raising the standards of hygiene and building a culture of food safety in public and private sectors were the major topics tackled at a one-day symposium and exhibition which attracted more than 475 delegates.

Sponsored and organised by Reza Hygiene, which boasts a base in Bahrain, in co-operation with the Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation, the event was an opportunity for the private sector to discuss best practices and standards for food and risk control.

Haydar Alireza, general manager of Reza Hygiene, said the seminar was an educational event for the food processing and food service industries.

Representatives from leaders in the dairy industry, bakery industry, food & beverage companies, meat & poultry processors, hotels & restaurants, catering companies, major retailers & supermarkets and hospital food services departments were among those who took part in the event in Jeddah.

Internationally-acclaimed guest speakers came from the US, UK, Canada and Slovenia.

Keith Watson, Reza Hygiene divisional manager, thanked all participants and delegates for their attendance.

Reza Hygiene issues a regular e-newsletter called Hygiene Matters to a database of more than 1,500 subscribers and also provides a central resource for hygiene-related subjects on its website for not just food safety matters, but also health care and facility maintenance.
