Wednesday (October 1) The Kart Zone at the Bahrain International Circuit will be open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Sporting a facelift, the new specifications of the Kart Zone track will feature three different configurations, with the longest track being 800m, and 14 thrilling turns and several straights. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to get an open tour of the BIC. The tour will begin with a visit to the eight-storey Al Sakhir 'VIP' Tower, followed by a trip to the Media Centre with a stop at the state-of-the-art Race Control Tower and finish with a lap around the circuit.

The zone will be open from 3pm to 11pm and ticket prices start at BD4 for children and BD5 for adults for a 10 minute slot. Visitors can take a tour of the circuit for BD5 per head. For details contact 1745000 or visit www.bahraingp.com.

Thursday (October 2)

Award-winning Indian singers K S Chitra and Dr S P Balasubramanium will perform at the Centrepoint Desert Symphony music concert at 7.30pm at the Indian School grounds in Isa Town.

The duo will be accompanied by 18 professional musicians from India including playback singers Radhika Thilak and Sudeep Kumar.

The charity concert is being held to raise funds for Bahrain Mobility International.

Saudi Arabian DJ Baloo is set to perform at Level located in the Club Seven complex of the Mishal Hotel in Hoora.

He has performed in Amsterdam, Washington DC, Beirut, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and was featured at the 2006 Winter Music Conference in Miami, alongside Harley & Muscle and Gene Hunt. The Lagoon at Amwaj Islands is hosting a carnival today and tomorrow from 4pm to 8pm. The fun event will include puppet shows, music, magic, international acts, fireworks and there are also prizes to be won.

The Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) is hosting a list of activities to raise funds for a new sanctuary in Askar.

A car boot sale will take place today from 10am to 2pm at the Shakhura sanctuary where families can sell household items such as books, DVDs, games, toys and gardening tools.

Entry is free and rent for a space costs BD5.

The BSPCA is also entering a team in the Bahrain Marathon Relay to be held on October 31 and DJ Krazy Kevin will open for the team.

The Filipino Club Basketball Group (FCBG) is conducting its second basketball league which will be held until December at the Muharraq Sports Complex. Monday (October 6)

Acapella Singing Workshops are scheduled to be held on October 6, 13, 20 and November 3, 10 and 17 in Juffair. They will feature Acapella pieces in popular, contemporary and gospel styles of singing and participants will learn singing techniques as well as fundamentals such as breathing, placement, singing in tune and harmonising with others.
