Danae returns in style to sing in Bahrain

On Friday, November 7, at the Crowne Plaza Convention Centre, the Manama Singers and Bahrain Sinfonia, will perform three works by German composers of the Romantic period, Johannes Brahms and Felix Mendelssohn.

This event will feature a choir of over 100, with visiting singers flown to Bahrain by Gulf Air from Dubai, Oman, Dhahran, Riyadh, Qatar and the UK.

Soprano soloist Danae Eleni, one-time resident of Bahrain and now based in the UK, will make her Bahrain debut on the night. Renowned British Baritone Howard Wong will appear for the first time as a soloist with the Manama Singers.

The singers will be accompanied by the Bahrain Sinfonia which comprises of musicians based in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The Sinfonia will be joined by players from Dubai, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and the UK who will arrive in the Kingdom courtesy of Gulf Air.

Theresa Finzi, leader of the Bahrain Sinfonia, will play the solo part in Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. The orchestra will also perform Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave), a work inspired by the beauty of Scotland.

Alistair Auld, music director of the Manama Singers and founder of the Bahrain Sinfonia, will conduct all three works on the night of Friday November 7.

Doors will open at 6.15pm. Tickets priced BD12, BD9 and BD6 will be available soon at Al Osra Supermarket Budaiya, The Bookcase, the Dilmun Club.
