IN less than two years Riffa residents will have a massive multi-million dinar garden in their area where they can enjoy an outing with their relatives and friends.
The park will offer a place for adults as well as children to practice their favourite sports, play games, relax and enjoy their free time with loves ones.
The project, carried out by Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture, is the first of its kind in the Central Governorate.
Central Municipal Council's services committee chairman Abdulrazaq Hattab, right, said construction works on Khalifa Alkobra Garden will be begin soon.
"Work on the garden is expected to begin in a few weeks and if everything goes according to our plan the project will be ready in around 20 months time," he said.
"The ministry wants to build a place for the public where they can go with their family or friends and have a good time.
"With all the stress in the workplace as well as in homes, everyone deserves a little break to loosen up and forget about their problems and worries."
The BD7.2 million garden covers an area of 9,500 sqm and will offer recreational and sports facilities to the public.
The project is designed by W S Atkins and Partners Overseas and the construction works is handled by Ahmed Omar Construction Company.
"The design of the garden is beautiful with all the greenery as well as the facilities available to the public," added Mr Hattab.
"Out of the 9,500 sqm, 4,000 sqm will be allocated for planting trees and grass, the rest of space will be used to build a car park, a walkway, a skating area, a bicycling course, a play ground for children, a volleyball and tennis course, a football course, seating areas covered with umbrellas, a fountain, a food court, toilet facilities and a first aid room.
"I am sure the residents of Riffa will love the garden, there are so many things a person can do in one place."
