With his game in 'excellent shape', India's ace golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, pictured right, has signed up for the Dubai Desert Classic, confident of producing another strong finish in 'his home away from home' when the European Tour event gets under way at the Emirates Golf Club from January 26 to February 1.
The 37-year-old rode an incredible wave of success in 2008, winning four times across the globe and topping the Asian Tour's Order of Merit for the second time in three years. While that was a great honour, he was also chosen the Players' Player of the Year in Asia.
"I have proven myself again - and now it's time to move on to bigger things. I think I've got the game, and the confidence, to win any tournament, even a Major," said India's super Singh, who netted $1.4 million in prize money on the Asian Tour in a single season last year to become the circuit's first 'million dollar man'.
"Of course, I would love to have a Major under my belt before my golfing career is over, but there are other tournaments like the Dubai Desert Classic which are very close to my heart. Dubai is a fantastic place. I have always felt very good being there. In fact, I can call it a home away from home," said Jeev, who is also a 'golf in DUBAi' ambassador.
"When it comes to winning a tournament, it all depends on the mindset that week and how you deal with the pressure. Somehow, I have this intrinsic feeling that I would do well in Dubai," said Jeev.
