IN the largest construction project since the building of the island's capital Valletta, Tigne Point is a prestigious development on the north east coast of the island of Malta, across the harbour from the World Heritage fortified City of Valletta.

The stylish waterfront homes are part of a secured and exclusive car-free environment where sleek landscaping, clever layouts, welcoming gardens, quiet arbours and miles of walkways along the craggy peninsula come together to create something truly spectacular.

Tigne Point comprises Tigne North and Tigne South. The Northern part is structured around the historic Garden Battery a fortified route linking Fort Tigne at the tip of the peninsula to Cambridge Battery along the coast. This is the more commercial part of the development; a dynamic quarter both spatially and architecturally, its accent on height resulting in a defined and well articulated skyline. Tigne North will house a number of stylish retail outlets together with restaurants and cafes as well as 15,000sq/m of prime office space and further waterfront residential development.

Tigne South is the southern half of the peninsula which accommodates a number of luxury residential buildings facing the spectacular Marsamxetto creek and the capital city Valletta across the water. These apartments form two sides of Piazza Tigne, a 2,500sq/m central square that forms the hub of the Tigne Point Development

Interestingly, the new constructions sit well with the famous Fort Tigne which, along with a host of other historical buildings including a chapel, a military battery and clock tower, have been carefully restored by Midi Plc, the developer of Tigne Point.

One of the cleverest concepts was to make all of the development a car free zone whilst allowing for a whole network of lay-bys, parking spaces, service routes and delivery bays beneath ground level.

Tigne Point is an architectural vision for a future lived at the highest level. The apartments, which have been extremely successful with local and international buyers, are spacious and stylish, offering views of the waterfront, piazza or gardens.

The dramatic vistas merely help to enhance the high level of craftsmanship which has gone into creating these exceptional properties. With wide balconies and huge glass windows there is a brightness in the apartments which is uplifting.

With a shoreline swimming pool, sports facilities, a health and leisure centre, verdant gardens and entrancing walkways along the rugged coastline, Tigne Point has much to offer.

The amazing piazza, devised to be the heart of this project, allows people to mix and mingle in a vibrant and lively atmosphere combining bars, cafes and restaurants with a plethora of shops.

There are also quiet sun-dappled corners to ponder the world and throughout there are spectacular views of the shimmering Mediterranean and the glorious skyline that is Valletta. At night, the place takes on another spectacular, yet equally enthralling, appearance.

"Tigne Point is absolutely unique on the local market and holds its own with the very best the Med has to offer. All the previous phases have sold out very quickly and all off plan", said James Vassallo, the project's sales and marketing manager.

"With a good infrastructure, a hospitable, friendly and English speaking population, excellent tax-friendly residency schemes, a buoyant local property market and a government keen to ensure that Malta holds its place in the world's market place, those looking for a Mediterranean holiday home, retirement base or investment will find it difficult to find a more secure venture."
