Urban chic is the style of the season with the opening of the French costume jewellery brand Agatha Paris at Seef Mall.

The brand 'inspired by fashion' makes its debut entry into the kingdom with its latest range of Spring-Summer 2009 jewellery alongside a range of other classic and assorted pieces.

Isabelle Trepat-Kelly, director of Essential Jewellery LLC, distributor of Agatha Paris in the UAE, said: "We have on offer now, part one of the spring-summer collection which is called Urban Tribes. Each season will have three different collections."

The Urban Tribes collection features ultra-chic designs inspired by a combination of cultures and styles. It includes necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings made of metal, stones, feathers, glass and beads in various bright colour combinations.

This season will also have two more collections namely Nomad releasing next month and Pacific which will be out by May.

Isabelle said: "Other than our seasonal collections, we have also got a permanent range which includes charms alongside rings and necklaces."

Each collection is composed of a vast variety of trendy fashion jewellery, watches, hair accessories, key-rings and charms

The specialty of the brand is its logo, a Scotty dog which is featured on many accessories. The logo symbolises the designer's pet dog which was called Agatha.

Agatha was founded in 1974, with the first boutique opened in 1976 in Rue de Rennes in Paris.

In 1982, the franchise system was created to form a network including the cities of Toulouse, Lyon, Lille and Nantes.

Today the brand boasts over 110 stores in France and 140 located in 20 different countries. Its name is also distributed extensively through major international department stores.

The first Agatha boutiques in the Middle East opened last year at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi and in Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, UAE.

In two months the brand is set to open a store in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia followed by Lebanon later this year.

Products at the boutique range from BD10 to BD200.
