Lagoon Real Estate Development has announced that all units that have been purchased at the $90 million development in Amwaj Island, have already been handed over to owners, in preparation for opening the development to visitors in April.

This move, which followed completion of construction of all buildings allows owners to move ahead with fitting out their retail units.

Saud Hassan Al Nusuf, chairman of the The Lagoon project said: "We are happy to be contributing to the kingdom's efforts in encouraging family tourism throughout. The Lagoon is a unique commercial development in Bahrain which will definitely attract Bahrain residents and visitors alike. The project has been completed in record time and according to international standards and we aim for the first shops to be open in a month's time."

The Lagoon has recently won the 'IVCA LiveCom' award for its three-day Eid Carnival which took place in October 2008 and was attended by more than 20,000 people including residents of Amwaj Islands, Bahrain and neighbouring countries to celebrate the Eid break.
