Too fast and too furious to digest

Fast & Furious is not my cup of tea but it is sure going to entertain young males who are into fast cars.

Since I am not, I have to admit I didn't enjoy it much but I saw a lot of people who were loving what they were watching.

There are a lot of beautiful cars in this movie, a lot of fighting as well as chasing the bad guys and of course good looking girls.

This film features the return of all four principals from the 2001 original. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodrigues and Jordana Brewster.

The story is about Dom Toretto (Diesel) and his girlfriend Letty (Rodriguez) who are running a profitable gas-stealing scheme in the Dominican Republic when he gets a tip that the Feds are after him again.

In order not to put his friends in danger, he splits to Panama where his sister Mia (Brewster) calls with bad news.

To get his revenge, Dom returns to Los Angeles where he is determined to catch the thug who did him wrong and to reach his goal he reluctantly teams up with FBI Agent Brian O'Conner (Walker), who deceived Dom in the original movie, to bring down the head of an international drug ring where the smugglers are using street racers to move their product from point to point.

The racing scenes are pretty exciting specially with the range of sports cars they use but to be honest I don't know much about most of them. The story, though, is a bit slow, the main focus is uniting Toretto with O'Conner.

Director Justin Lin did have emotional and romantic scenes in this sequel but I think the car racing was his key factor which is fair enough for this kind of story.

You can't also sympathise with Toretto and O'Conner in the human emotion scenes because both their looks and characters are unconvincing.

Fast & Furious in my opinion is an average movie with an average story. There is nothing outstanding in it except for the cars.

So if you are a fan of this series and of course of cars, you should go and see it otherwise I don't recommend it.

Showing in: Seef I, Saar Cineplex and Al Jazeera Cineplex.
