Visitors to MODA Mall will this month be privy to a piece of motoring history ... thanks to GulfWeekly.

A display of vintage cars is being staged courtesy of Miknas Car Museum, Bahrain's biggest collection of vintage automobiles.

The cars have been brought to the kingdom over the past 20 years by advertising magnate Akram Miknas - whose collection now totals 60 - with cars dating to 1917.

Mall executives spotted GulfWeekly's feature on the amazing automobiles and asked to be put in touch with their owner who lives in Adliya.

Mr Miknas, chairman of Promoseven Holdings, said: "I am happy to showcase my cars in such a superb venue and I feel it is my national duty to help provide an attraction that helps our tourism efforts and raise the kingdom's profile.

"I hope the mall visitors get as much pleasure from looking at the cars as I do driving them!"

Models on display at MODA Mall include the first car ever to go into production, the Model T Ford, which was released in 1908, and became so successful that by the time the 10 millionth car had been made, nine out of 10 cars on America's roads were manufactured by Ford.

Also, on display are other famous vintage brands such as the Clement Bayard, the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn and the Chrysler New Yorker.

Bob Addison, country director of DTZ, MODA Mall's managing & leasing agents, added: "We wanted to put these cars on display as a really unusual piece of history in the kingdom. Most of the cars on our roads are new and people may not know the origin of the model they drive! It is rare to see such cars in the Middle East and Bahrain is lucky that we have collectors such as Mr Miknas willing to bring the cars here and allow them to be showcased."
