Reclamation work for Dilmunia at Bahrain, a 125 hectare purpose-built island that is being developed by Ithmaar Development Company (IDC) off the north-east coast of Bahrain, has been completed and infrastructure work is well underway.
IDC has started selling parcels of land to third-party sub developers while simultaneously preparing to develop other parcels themselves.
The development of non-residential clusters, including health, hospitality and commercial and retail plots will be co-ordinated closely by IDC.
The project is currently presenting investment opportunities through offering land plots for development. These range from 8,000 sqm to 10,000 sqm per plot.
IDC chief executive officer and board member Mohammed Khalil Alsayed said: "Work on Dilmunia at Bahrain has been continuing at full swing and we remain as resolutely committed as ever to meeting both the deadlines and the anticipated returns we had announced when we first launched the project."
Dilmunia at Bahrain has been designed for mixed-use development that will include residences, themed hotels, retail and commercial districts - all built around a wellness and health cluster to form 'a luxurious retreat'.
The $1.6 billion island, with a total built up area of around two million sqm is being developed by IDC, the development arm of the Ithmaar Banking Group.
