THE latest in mobile technology is now within everyone's grasp as prices continue to tumble offering customers the sorts of gadgets they could only dream of in the past.

A new player in the Bahrain market is offering mobile phones that allow users to view free television channels on a screen alongside many other features ... for just BD33.

SOL Trading Company located at the GOSI Complex in Manama is offering a CTV and Touch Screen version for just BD8 more. Both phones have been designed in the UK and are manufactured in China.

With an international 15-month warranty and an International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI, officials say that the brand is competing to secure a place among the Top 10 in the mobile phone industry.

SOL's country manager Samir Chavan, said: "Many people are afraid of using a phone from China but this instrument has been manufactured in the country's best factories. It has been designed in the UK and the entire body, set-up and standards follow the UK and European style.

"In comparison with other phones it has an attractive price and comes with an international warranty. There are no other phones offering live TV - this is something unique in the mobile phone industry. It can catch any channels that are freely available on air.

"These phones can be used in any part of the world. You can take them abroad as they are not linked to a particular operator."

Users are able to operate two SIM cards on the phone and the device also offers a standby and dual Bluetooth facility.

They offer Arabic and English keypads, radio and camera and have a regular MP3 and MP4 player for downloading and playing music.

It currently supports a 2GB memory and eventually the maker plans to introduce 8, 16 and 32 GB versions to facilitate the recording of TV programmes.

The company also plans to launch seven new mobile phones by the end of the year. One is expected to be as light as 40gm and others will be Wi Fi, MSN and Java enabled.
