The Bahrain Jewellery Centre (BJC) has opened its doors and is welcoming customers to its newly-renovated boutique.

The outlet at the MODA Mall in Manama features the top brands in high-end jewellery and watches including, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, Harry Winston, Chopard, Roman Jerome, Frank Muller, Hublot and Tiffany & Co.

Managing director Dr Abul Qassim said: "Our watches come in two categories - fashion and classic. Although the classic has always been more popular with customers."

Dr Qassim also pointed out that amongst the latest jewellery trends, yellow gold seems to be preferred to white gold.

The BJC boasts a rich history of nearly 60 years and has 10 branches around the island.

It was also one of the first boutiques to open at the MODA Mall, previously the Sheraton Hotel shopping complex, in 1984.

In the future, the company plans to open two new boutiques at the mall, Piaget and Chopard.

Piaget is scheduled to open in three months time closely followed by Chopard, both of which will be located in the mall's Jewellery Court.

The Bahrain Jewellery Centre is displaying some of its collection at the Jewellery Arabia Exhibition. Dr Qassim said: "Due to the global financial crisis, we are not sure what to expect at this year's exhibition. However, we are being positive and hope to see signs of growth soon.

"For investment-seekers visiting the exhibition, purchasing a high-quality precious stone such as diamond, ruby, emerald or sapphire will be a wise move as they will never lose their value."
