The battle over designer phones with touch-ability will be fought over in the coffee bars of Bahrain, writes SHILPA CHANDRAN.
SOL Trading Company has just launched its new E Fone boasting similar features to that of the popular but more expensive Apple iPhone.
Country manager Samir Chavan said: "The E Fone's advantage is that one can change its battery manually which isn't possible on an iPhone. It is also compatible with a BL4C Nokia battery.
"Other added features of the E Fone as compared to the iPhone are Bluetooth and stylus option for instant messages."
The E Fone can accommodate two SIM cards and also features dual stand-by which means that the user can be on two calls at the same time from two different phone numbers.
The phone also features a 2.8 inch touch screen, e-book reader, USB cord, FM Radio, video and audio recording, VGA camera, 2GB memory card as well as MP3 and MP4 players. The phone is designed in the UK and manufactured in China and is available at the company's outlet in the GOSI Complex on Exhibition Avenue in Manama.
Mr Chavan said: "We are offering a special 15-month international warranty. The phone is currently available in the UK, Dubai as well as Bahrain and will soon be shipped to Germany, Spain, Belgium, Canada, Madagascar and South Africa."
The SOL Trading Company was started in Tanzania in 1990 and is present in major cities across the world.
The launch of the phone is the third of seven releases planned by the company by the end of the year. The E Fone is priced at BD49.
