Schoolboy Adam Jones is set to be allowed to tell a Qatari court how badly he wants to return to Bahrain and live with his mother.

The 10-year-old will be given the opportunity of expressing his feelings after his mother files papers today for an appeal to win custody of the child.

Rebecca Jones, 43, is fighting a custody battle with her late ex-husband's family who she says tricked her into signing legal papers in Arabic and refused to return her son after a visit.

The determined mum has stayed in Qatar for more than two months to try and win her child back after a court granted custody to his ailing 77-year-old grandmother.

British expat Rebecca, from Saar, has been receiving threats and is concerned for her safety. She said: "I have been warned that if I get Adam back I will be 'sorry' and that I will 'pay'."

Rebecca continues to visit Adam twice weekly at his uncle's home in the presence of a police officer. She said: "Adam is unhappy and appears very withdrawn. He is not allowed to go to school or play outside. I am worried because he is not eating and sleeping very well."

Adam is also missing his little sister Alex, four, who is being cared for back in their Bahrain home by her father, Barrie.

Our Page One petition will be hand delivered today by GulfWeekly Editor Stan Szecowka to 10 Downing Street urging the British authorities to use all its influence to support our call for justice and to assist her custody appeal.
