Bahrain Airport Company, is reviewing current aeronautical contracts offered to airline companies and studying a new scheme to be introduced later this year.
The move, it says, is aimed at regulating relationships with partnering airlines and providing a higher level of service at Bahrain International Airport,
"The new system we are studying will be primarily designed to establish enhanced rules and regulations," explained Dr Osama Al Ali, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company, "This new system will be transparent and standardised among all aeronautics partners."
Bahrain Airport Company plans to apply the new system to all airlines regardless of size or category, and hopes it will achieve a higher level of compliance between the Airport and its partners. They will also introduce an 'Airport Use Agreement', to effectively regulate the facilities and services offered to airline companies.
Dr Al Ali said, "We have been working closely with our legal consultants at Trowers & Hamlins who have reviewed the current setup and provided us with references from other airports from around the globe. In addition, they are reviewing the prices to be aligned with the market range."
