INDUSTRIAL services company Hertel is a relative newcomer to the Middle East, having first stepped foot in the region in 2007.

By forming partnerships with established and well-respected companies, and bringing in Hertel's experience built over 115 years in Europe, it is already proving to be a successful formula ... for Hertel, which today employs over 2,000 people throughout Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE ... but even more so for its customers.

John Potts, Hertel board director for the Middle East, said: "We are passionate about building and supporting the plants and installations of our customers and helping them to do what they do best.

"Hertel is very much a people business - it's because of them that the company and our partnerships have continued to thrive.

"Every one of them plays a vital role in our success. What links them is a strong culture underlined by our four core values: safety, adding value, sustainability, and, of course, people. These values work across borders, and I think it's fair to say you'll find the same culture wherever we work in the world - be it here in the Middle East, our origin in Europe, or other markets for us like Asia and the CIS. "And, it is because of our people and culture that our clients know they can rely on us, demonstrated by our client retention of over 95 per cent." As well as joint ventures, Hertel have also been active in the acquisitions market, which saw MSL/Global Bahrain and Qatari MSL join the group in 2008.

Mr Potts explained: "With work on all the major plants in Bahrain, Hertel MSL has an enviable safety and quality record. Hertel MSL Bahrain has over 25 years of successful experience in the industrial coatings and scaffolding access services."

With its favourable business working conditions and central location, Bahrain also serves as the regional headquarters for Hertel in the Middle East. Overall, Hertel sees great opportunities in the region. Mr Potts said: "What we've managed to build here in a short space of time is a strong base for continued growth. With our shared values, strategic aims and continued investment I'm convinced Hertel will go from strength-to-strength in the Middle East.

"Our customers can count on us to perform and deliver, and benefit from our continuous commitment to training and developing our people to be the best in the business."
