TEENAGE singer Elizabeth Wahba has been busy rehearsing this week for her TV debut as the final contestant in the Talent Trail 2010 competition.
The 14-year-old British School Bahrain student will be hoping to woo the audience with a popular show tune.
She said: "This is the first time that I will have performed in front of the TV cameras and I am really nervous!"
But she hopes to control those fears by belting out 'Think of me' from the musical Phantom of the Opera.
Elizabeth moved to Bahrain from the US last June and lives with her family on Tala Island in Amwaj. Her mother, Lisa, 43, said: "She has always loved to sing and used to enjoy our trips to watch plays and musicals. As she got older, she pursued music. She does not have any formal voice training but has a tremendous vocal range."
While in America, Elizabeth participated in the school chorus for five years and also starred as Yertle the Turtle in a play called Seussical Junior - a musical based on the children's books of Dr Seuss.
In Bahrain, she won first prize in the British School Bahrain Music Festival for best solo performance.
Elizabeth hoped to get a teacher to accompany her performance on the piano but unfortunately the music teacher has been caught up in the UK by the air traffic disruption caused by volcanic ash.
As a result Elizabeth will be performing acapella and has been working really hard to perfect her act.
After graduating from school, this Beetles and Avril Lavigne fan hopes to perform on Broadway as well as securing a place in a college for the performing arts.
GulfWeekly has joined up with Bahrain TV, the English language station of the nation, to uncover the kingdom's most promising entertainer.
Next week readers will be able to vote on the GulfWeekly website following the broadcast of a special final edition of the programme and the contestant who receives the most votes will walk away with a prize trophy.
A panel of judges will be invited to comment on the recorded performances ... but it will be YOUR web votes next week that count.
Catch the show at 8pm. It will be repeated on Friday and Sunday at 9pm too. Presenter Krazy Kevin said: "The final act - just before the final showdown - it's just so exciting!"
