The kingdom's shopaholics and mall rats kicked off Moda Mall's 'Summer Surprises' on a healthy note and I was leading the pack.
When I heard that Moda Mall, Bahrain's first ultra high-end shopping complex, was hosting a number of summer events I could not pass it up.
A month of prizes and exciting promotions were to be had and I wanted every part of it.
I was especially thrilled when the mall management teamed up with state-of-the-art international health club, Fitness First, to help shoppers get in shape and remain fit despite the heat of the summer months.
I thought that was a great idea as I find staying fit not only makes me feel energetic but also makes me a more confident shopper. I normally pack on the pounds during winter but in summer I begin to shed to get that 'bikini bod' I adore. So I jumped on the chance to try out their Body Analysis Test to figure out what I needed to do to make that dream a reality.
I was asked to remove my shoes, socks, watch and belt; anything that would add to my weight really. I was then directed to hop onto the machine and hold on to two levers - a long strip of paper with all my details began to roll out.
An instructor then explained what my Body Mass Index was and fat percentage. I even discovered that my right side weighed less than my left.
He then gave me personalised advice on my diet and what type of exercises suited me best.
I put my belongings back on, thanked the instructor and happily started out on my own shopping spree. While shoppers were being tested, the other instructors put on a demonstration of all the basic exercises you can do at home and at the gym. By the end of it all there were a lot of smiling faces and new healthy goals were set.
Moda Mall's summer extravaganza features an exhibition of paintings by leading Bahraini artist Rashid Al Oraifi. The paintings offer visitors a glimpse of Rashid's unique insight and style and he will also be holding a workshop for talented youngsters from July 18 to August 18.

For every BD25 spent at any of Moda Mall's boutiques, shoppers will receive one raffle ticket. The first draw will take place on July 29 and the second will be held August 8.
